Long process and becomes too rush for everyone involved as I experienced last year, plus a lot of work if vote goes through
If there is evidence that we will eventually be amalgamated than sure we should do that now.
Not enough time to do a smooth transition
I feel you should start now for discussions regarding a 2013/14 season. Otherwise we will end up with the same issues that we encountered last spring, in that we started the process after the teams had broken up for the year and were not "thinking hockey". Many answers we had received from guest speakers indicated that if we rushed, we could pull it off before the season started, but realistically many of the rep/AAA/AA etc players would have been put in a situation where they had to make decisions before they knew what our home centres were doing. Also, with sign-up starting this month, you are asking all parents to make a commitment without knowing if/who the association may be amalgamated with. I would vote yes for the following hockey season.
Needs to be done over a longer period of time than the last one in order to be successfull.
I think that we are driving some pretty great distances as it is (Madoc for 5yrs olds to play). I think we don't want to get amalgamated with an area that is going to be taking us even further away.
Would an amalgamation with a team from the Victoria/Durham League mean that we would be precluded from playing in the LEO League?
We also have another child in Peewee Rep. Any center at this point would be worth talking to. It's happening with or without us. Hmmm...
Dear Parents,
As you may have heard the MDMHA Executive has struck a sub-committee to look in to the possibility of amalgamating with a neighbouring centre. We would like your input into this process. We have prepared an online survey to collect your thoughts on this matter.
The survey closed February 19th.
The 2012 MDMHA Annual General Meeting will take place at 7pm on March 21, 2012 at the Lion's Den on County Road 10.
Any member who wishes to propose a change to the MDMHA Constitution must submit it to the executive before the March 7th executive meeting.
Please note that the AGM is also your first opportunity to register for the 2012/13 hockey season.
